Salò’s Municipal Theatre Restoration: Savings and New Developments

The Teatro Comunale di Salò is set to reopen soon as the final phase of restoration work has been contracted. Mayor Francesco Cagnini announced a total savings of over €2.4 million compared to initial estimates, achieved through collaboration between the municipality, designers, and the Centro Teatrale Bresciano (CTB). Cost reductions of approximately €1.46 million were made possible by reorganizing the work phases, along with the new administration’s decision in July 2024 to forgo a €5 million loan, aided by lower interest rates.

Currently, the third phase of the project is underway, expected to conclude by spring 2026, which includes essential fire safety facilities and structural installations. The fourth phase, budgeted for 2026, will focus on critical enhancements such as theatrical scenery systems and the installation of the stage curtain. These developments represent a significant advancement in the restoration of the theater, a vital component of the local cultural scene.
