Scam Alert: Fake Carabinieri Calls Targeting Garda Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

wanted money, then disappears.
