Scam Alert: Fake Carabinieri Impersonators Targeting Garda Businesses

They pretend to be Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after getting the money, disappears.
