Scam Alert: Fake Police Contact Hoteliers and Businesses in Garda

Pretending to be Carabinieri, they contact hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions by phone, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police force, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

has money, and then disappears.
