Scam Alert: Fraudsters Faking Carabinieri Phone Calls in Garda Area

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

They are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you have the suspicion of being targeted by individuals who,
