Scam Alert: Impersonators Pretend to Be Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making telephone contacts with hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are targeted by individuals who,

if they ask for money, disappear and do not show up again.
