Scammers Falsely Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Region: How to Recognize and React

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing magazine subscriptions from the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, firefighters, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
