Scammers Impersonate Authorities in Garda Area to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the authorities.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, disappears without a trace.
