Scammers Impersonate Authorities in Garda Area, Warns Carabinieri

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, firefighting services, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you get the feeling you have been targeted by individuals who,

with money in mind, no longer make themselves visible.
