Scammers Impersonate Authorities in Garda to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality vigilantes.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
