Scammers Impersonate Authorities to Target Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who,

would demand money and then disappear.
