Scammers Impersonate Authorities to Target Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the army.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, at various times, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality guards.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you sense that you’ve been targeted by someone who,
