Scammers Impersonate Authorities to Target Garda Businesses and Residents

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
