Scammers Impersonate Authorities to Trick Garda Businesses

They pretend to be Carabinieri when making telephone contact with hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to army’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

So, be careful and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,
