Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri and Police in Garda Area
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Middle and Upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to the army’s magazines.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal guards.
Recognizing scams
They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.
Therefore, be vigilant and immediately inform the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
has money but no longer shows themselves.
