Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri for Garda Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to the service’s magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri— just dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, disappear and no longer make an appearance.
