Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area, Authorities Warn

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant operators in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not members of the military, but rather scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, firefighters, or municipal cops.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
