Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area for Fraudulent Subscriptions

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the armed forces‘ magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal guards.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or to publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

having money, no longer shows up.
