Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area—How to Recognize and Respond

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the mid and upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So be careful and immediately notify the genuine carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
