Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area Phone Calls

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or the Comune (Municipality).

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to fake magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,

if they’re asking for money, suddenly disappears.
