Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area: Stay Alert

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Carabinieri.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those with no connection to law enforcement agencies.

So be cautious and immediately notify the genuine carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who, after taking your money, disappears.
