Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Commit Fraud

They impersonate carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to publications of the Carabinieri.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So, be alert and immediately notify the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after receiving the money, disappear without a trace.
