Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Commit Fraud

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the genuine Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve become their target, especially if they have any money, as they tend to disappear without a trace.
