Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Contact Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making telephone contacts with hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to magazines related to the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by someone who, if they had money, would no longer be visible.
