Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Fleece Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to financial authorities, the police, fire brigade, or the Comune (Municipality) police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
