Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Fleece Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military-related magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.
