Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Promote Fake Magazines
They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, general police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.
How to recognize scams and how to respond
They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by those who,
after collecting the money, disappear without a trace.
