Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Trick Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the army magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to financial agencies, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Identifying the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

if they ask for money, no longer show themselves.
