Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Trick Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not actual military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
