Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Trick Hoteliers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army’s magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Identifying the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or that have nothing to do with the authorities.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

would seek money, but then disappear.
