Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Trick Hoteliers

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

In reality, they are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality’s police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just call 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, no longer make an appearance.
