Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Trick Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to arm magazines.

They are not military personnel but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire department, or the Comune (Municipality) police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to fake magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,
