Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Trick Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Middle and Upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, no longer appear.
