Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area, Warn Authorities

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Arma.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscription to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
