Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area, Warn Authorities

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,

if they ask for money, disappears and is no longer visible.
