Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area, Warns Police

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing magazine subscriptions from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Recognizing Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, disappear without a trace.
