Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Calls to Send Fake Magazine Offers

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and high Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not actual members of the military but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, firefighters, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting money, disappear.
