Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda for Fake Magazine Offers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These individuals are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after obtaining money, ceases to appear.
