Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to army-related magazines.

They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or the Comune (Municipal Authority).

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

once they have obtained money, disappear and are no longer seen.
