Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda, Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after obtaining the money, disappears.
