Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Phone Calls to Hotels

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, would no longer be showing up.
