Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Region for Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pretend to be Carabinieri when telefonically contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering magazine subscriptions from the carabinieri.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, police, fire brigades, or municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
