Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Region to Trick Local Businesses

Pretending to be Carabinieri, scammers contact hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the armed forces.

They are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
