Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda to Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

The perpetrators impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant operators in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not real military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality‘s police force.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they are after money, will no longer appear.
