Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda, Urging Caution

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, disappear and are no longer seen.
