Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri, Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, police, fire brigade, or municipal employees.

How to Recognize Scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone

who, having money, no longer shows up.
