Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the armed forces‘ magazines.

These individuals are not members of the military; rather, they are scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, police, firefighters, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify genuine Carabinieri — simply call 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they are after money, disappear without a trace.
