Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the armed forces’ magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have become targeted by someone who,

if they sought money, would stop showing up.
