Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

would want money, but disappears when approached.
