Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to military magazines of the armed forces.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigades, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have no connection to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify genuine Carabinieri — by dialing 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they ask for money, will disappear without a trace.
